RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Forest Johnson, Sr.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mr. Forest Johnson, Sr., on November 28, 2009;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Johnson was born on March 29, 1917, in Washington County, Georgia, the
beloved eldest son of the late Ned and Effie Johnson; and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Johnson was an active and faithful member
of St. James Holiness Church, where he served in almost every area of the
ministry from cleaning and building the church to serving as ordained deacon and
a board member; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Johnson was united in love and marriage to his adoring wife, Nellie Paris,
on April 9, 1939, and was blessed with the love of 14 children, Forest, Jr.,
Samuel, Nathaniel, Minnie, Christine, Elizabeth, Carrie, Mary Ann, Jean, Alvin,
Calvin, James, Joseph, and Melvin; and
WHEREAS,
he leaves behind many who will cherish his memory and the wonderful times
shared, including many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Johnson will long be remembered for his
love of family and friendship, and this loyal husband, father, grandfather, and
friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Forest Johnson, Sr., and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
