RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Reverend Michael A. Jones on the occasion of his 55th pastoral
anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend Michael A. Jones has devoted 55 years to preaching the Word of God and
leading his community in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Jones has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel,
witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,
psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and
WHEREAS,
on October 25, 2009, Reverend Jones celebrated the 55th anniversary of his
pastorship with Cobb Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church; and
WHEREAS,
during his time leading Cobb Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, the
church has grown into a phenomenal place of worship, uplifting the community
like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual leader and place for
fellowship; and
WHEREAS,
whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the
troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator,
administrator, or humanitarian, Reverend Jones serves as a shining example of
God's righteous path; and
WHEREAS,
as a minister of the Gospel, Reverend Jones has shown the energy, devotion, and
commitment truly reflective of divine guidance which has allowed the Word of God
to spread throughout the community; and
WHEREAS,
the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Jones is a source of
strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic
strata; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Jones's guidance and inspiration have helped establish Cobb Bethel
African Methodist Episcopal Church as a community presence, allowing the church
to serve as an uplifting spiritual beacon of hope; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message
of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works
rendered on behalf of persons in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Reverend Michael A. Jones for his service to the Lord and the
community of Atlanta, congratulate him upon the wonderful occasion of his 55th
pastoral anniversary, and extend best wishes for many more years of successful
fellowship and leadership.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend
Michael A. Jones.
