House Resolution 1509

A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Reverend Dr. Wimbley Hale, Jr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Wimbley Hale, Jr., has long been recognized for his active leadership roles in his community and throughout this state and his deep commitment to spreading the Word of God to others; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Hale earned a bachelor's degree from Clark College, a Master of Divinity degree from the Gammon Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center, and has studied in the areas of ministries of the church, college curriculum development, and church administration; and

WHEREAS, he began his service to the Lord in 1970 as assistant pastor at Mallalieu United Methodist Church and has served as pastor to the congregations of Rivertown, Bowen, Warren Memorial, Hoosier Memorial, and Andrews Chapel United Methodist Churches; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant, Reverend Hale has served as a letter carrier with the United States Post Office, a community recreation leader with the City of Atlanta's Department of Parks and Recreation, a philosophy instructor at Clark College, a casework supervisor and quality control reviewer for the Department of Family and Children Services, and district superintendent for the Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford District; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Hale has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and

WHEREAS, during his time leading Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church, the church has grown into a phenomenal place of worship, uplifting the community like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual leader and place for fellowship; and

WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or humanitarian, Reverend Hale serves as a shining example of God's righteous path; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Hale is united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Mae Williams Hale, and he has been blessed with two remarkable sons, Keith and Craig; and

WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Hale is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic strata; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works rendered on behalf of persons in need.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Reverend Dr. Wimbley Hale, Jr., for his service to the Lord and his congregations and extend best wishes for many more years of successful fellowship and leadership.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Dr. Wimbley Hale, Jr.
