RESOLUTION
Requesting
four-year colleges and universities of the University System of Georgia to help
make Georgia the # 1 DESTINATION FOR ENTREPRENEURS in the United States of
America by developing, and expanding, education for the support of science,
innovation, technology, energy, and new Georgia entrepreneurs; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
science, innovation, technology, and energy and the entrepreneurial leaders that
utilize these important tools to build new businesses and expand available
consumer products are the keys for successful economic growth in Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Georgia loses massive potential return on its educational investment to other
states that have established competitive college and university courses to
support the growth of technology driven entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS,
there is a tremendous need to promote and cultivate science, innovation,
technology, energy, and entrepreneurs so as to increase the number of new and
successful technology based businesses in this state and, in turn, dramatically
increase job opportunities and economic success for all Georgia citizens;
and
WHEREAS,
units of the University System of Georgia, particularly those with existing
bachelor, master, and nondegree programs in business administration, science,
and computer technology, are uniquely situated to provide instruction and help
for the growth of science, innovation, technology, energy resources, and for
Georgia’s future entrepreneurs.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that it is the sense
of this body that the University System of Georgia must do more to make Georgia
the # 1 DESTINATION FOR ENTREPRENEURS in the United States of America by
developing, and expanding, comprehensive programs to provide education and
training for potential entrepreneurs and support the growth of science,
innovation, technology, and energy in ways that will more effectively promote
the establishment of new technology driven businesses in this
state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body request four-year colleges and
universities of the University System of Georgia to develop and expand education
for the support of science, innovation, technology, and energy and new Georgia
entrepreneurs in order to make Georgia the # 1 DESTINATION FOR ENTREPRENEURS in
the United States of America.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the president
of each four-year college and university of the University System of Georgia and
to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
