RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Georgia's public school psychologists; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Georgia's public school psychologists collaborate with teachers, parents, and
administrators to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems;
and
WHEREAS,
public school psychologists evaluate a student's eligibility for special
services and assess their academic skills and aptitude for learning;
and
WHEREAS,
public school psychologists design programs for children at risk of failing at
school and help families and schools manage crises such as death, illness, or
community trauma; and
WHEREAS,
these dedicated professionals collaborate with school and community based
personnel to provide a comprehensive model of school linked health services,
work with school staff and community agencies to provide services directed at
improving psychological and physical health, and promote tolerance,
understanding, and appreciation of diversity within school communities;
and
WHEREAS,
public school psychologists provide parents and teachers with skills to
understand students with disruptive behaviors, academic difficulties, and
emotional-social problems and those students in need of more accelerated
learning opportunities; and
WHEREAS,
the highly trained and experienced public school psychologists in Georgia
develop partnerships with parents and teachers to promote and create healthy
school environments; and
WHEREAS,
Georgia's public school psychologists use evidence-based research to develop or
recommend effective interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of academic
programs, behavioral management systems, and other services;
and
WHEREAS, trained specifically in a public school setting, public school psychologists are familiar with the issues children face, the challenges facing governance to operate within state and federal law, and the responsibility to guarantee that students, parents, and school officials are able to have meaningful and productive dialogue; and
WHEREAS, trained specifically in a public school setting, public school psychologists are familiar with the issues children face, the challenges facing governance to operate within state and federal law, and the responsibility to guarantee that students, parents, and school officials are able to have meaningful and productive dialogue; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary dedication of these
distinguished Georgians be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the commitment of Georgia's public school psychologists and
extend their sincere gratitude for the selfless efforts of these fine
professionals.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to members of the
public and the press.
