A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bartow County on the occasion of its 20th
anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Boys & Girls Clubs movement in Bartow County was established in 1990 by
a group of concerned citizens who saw the need for daily youth development
services that the Boys & Girls Clubs organization provided; and
WHEREAS,
the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bartow County is to inspire and
enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to
realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens;
and
WHEREAS,
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bartow County serves girls and boys throughout
Bartow County through its two clubs, the Cartersville Unit and the Adairsville
Unit, with more than 250 attendees in the after-school programs and over 400
children attending the daily summer program; and
WHEREAS,
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bartow County provides a wide range of educational
programs, prevention and intervention services, and social and cultural
enrichment programs for children ages six to 18; and
WHEREAS,
Bartow County's clubs are open when children and their families are most in
need, after school and all day during summer and school holidays;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Gordon L. Gilley has served as the chief professional officer of the Boys
& Girls Clubs of Bartow County since its establishment in 1990, diligently
and conscientiously serving the children and families of Bartow County;
and
WHEREAS,
for a vast majority of club members, their Bartow County club is the only viable
option for services, and the caring and nurturing professional staff of the Boys
& Girls Clubs provide a safe and welcoming environment in which children
thrive; and
WHEREAS,
the Bartow County clubs enjoys a variety of collaborative partners, and members
have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of services; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of the Boys &
Girls Clubs of Bartow County and its numerous contributions to the children and
families of this state be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bartow County for two decades
of compassionate and quality service to the people of Bartow County and extend
congratulations on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Boys
& Girls Clubs of Bartow County.
