RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the 2007 Child Fatality Review Panel of the Year from Cherokee
County and inviting them to appear before the House of Representatives; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Cherokee County was recognized as having the 2007 Child Fatality Review Panel of
the Year; and
WHEREAS,
the Child Fatality Review Panel diligently set about its directives of meeting
every month to review cases, update child abuse protocols to reflect new laws,
add members as needed, and assist local law enforcement officers with traffic
stops to check for seat belt usage; and
WHEREAS,
the panel received outstanding community support for the state's seat belt
initiative, conducted a thorough review of case files and submitted reports of
their findings to the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel, assisted with
procuring funding for the Child Abuse Prevention Committee to print a mandated
reporting guide, and organized presentations from the Department of Human
Resources covering seat belt usage and child safety seats; and
WHEREAS,
this panel went above and beyond the call of duty by meeting every month,
including local officials not on the committee who were responsible for working
with targeted families, and submitting thorough and accurate reports in a timely
manner; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to recognize with
particularity the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary
panel.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to recognize the Child Fatality Review Panel of the Year
for 2007 from Cherokee County and commend its members for their outstanding
service to their community and this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body invite the Cherokee County
Child Fatality Review Panel to appear before the House of Representatives on
such date and at such time as determined by the Speaker of the House and that
the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit
an appropriate copy of this resolution to the panel.
