RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the outstanding accomplishments of the George Walton Academy Band; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
at the G.I.S.A. Invitational Marching and Pep Band Competition, held October 10,
2009, at the Wesleyan School in Norcross, Georgia, the George Walton Academy
Band received the following accolades:
Superior
Drum Major
Superior Drumline
Superior Color Guard
Superior Band
1st Place Drum Major AAA Class
1st Place Color Guard AAA Class
1st Place Drumline AAA Class
1st Place Band AAA Class
Overall Champion for G.I.S.A. 2009; and
Superior Drumline
Superior Color Guard
Superior Band
1st Place Drum Major AAA Class
1st Place Color Guard AAA Class
1st Place Drumline AAA Class
1st Place Band AAA Class
Overall Champion for G.I.S.A. 2009; and
WHEREAS,
the George Walton Academy Band offers a complete artistic experience through the
world of music; and
WHEREAS,
every fall, the Marching Bulldog Band composed of approximately 85 members
excites the crowd at football games and also competes every year in at least
three events; and
WHEREAS,
under the direction of Christian Smith and Jason Sneath, the overall program has
grown from 31 to 190 members, and Mr. Smith and Mr. Sneath have been recognized
by the National Band Association, GMEA, and the Board of Advisors for the Dixie
Classic as outstanding contributors to music education and excellence in
music.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate and recognize the George Walton Academy Band for their
outstanding accomplishments and wish them only the best for the
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Christian
Smith and Jason Sneath.
