RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Steve Penley and inviting him to be recognized by the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Steve Penley is a talented artist who believes that the values and attitudes
of every generation are reflected in its art; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Penley's artwork brings new life to historical icons by depicting them in
their idealized form and with new dignity; and
WHEREAS,
born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mr. Penley attended the University of Georgia
and the School of Visual Art in New York; and
WHEREAS,
his work has been featured in galleries in New York, Washington, D.C., and
throughout Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
his brilliant and colorful depictions have been spotlighted in numerous
periodicals, including
Address
Macon,
Skirt
Magazine,
Lifestyles
Magazine,
The Macon
Telegraph,
Times-Georgian,
Atlanta
Magazine,
Times-Union,
Bluemilk
Magazine, and
Arts &
Collecting; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Penley has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades, including an
appointment to the Georgia Council for the Arts, the Flourish Award from
Kennesaw State University, a Georgia Author of the Year Award in 2002, and being
selected to produce the official commemorative painting of the 2004 G8 Summit;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished artist be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Steve Penley for his amazing artistic abilities and
awe-inspiring works of art and invite him to be recognized by the House of
Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House
of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Steve
Penley.
