A RESOLUTION


Commending Honorable Doug Collins and inviting him to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Honorable Doug Collins has long been recognized by the citizens of his community and state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the United States; and

WHEREAS, our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and

WHEREAS, the gentleman from the 27th District has represented the citizens of Hall, Lumpkin, and White counties with great ability while simultaneously serving his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve; and

WHEREAS, this extraordinary man is a chaplain in the 94th Air Wing at Dobbins Air Force Base and was called up to active duty, deployed to the Iraq war zone in September, 2008; and

WHEREAS, he is a loving husband and father who recently became a member of the Georgia Bar; and

WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, or ministering through love and understanding, Chaplain Collins shows the energy, devotion, and commitment truly reflective of divine guidance; and

WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered under the guiding heart and gentle hands of Chaplain Collins is a source of strength, inspiration, and direction for the members of the military forces; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding American, Honorable Doug Collins, be recognized appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that members of this body recognize Honorable Doug Collins for his courageous decision to dedicate himself to the protection of the citizens of his country and state, wish him Godspeed in continuing his ministry, and extend to his family the most profound and sincere appreciation for all members of the United States military who stand ever ready to lay the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body invite him and his loving family to appear before the House of Representatives on such date and at such time as determined by the Speaker of the House and that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Honorable Doug Collins.
