A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Sandy Akin; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Sandy Akin, an educator at East Jackson County Comprehensive High School,
is widely recognized throughout her community and the state as the
personification of excellence in education; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her outstanding dedication to academic achievement, Mrs. Akin
has been named the 2009-2010 Jackson County School System Teacher of the Year;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Akin holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics education from
the University of Georgia, a specialist degree in education leadership, and
teaching certificates in gifted, mathematics grades 4-7, and mathematics grades
7-12; and
WHEREAS,
committed to encouraging and instilling excellence in her students both in the
classroom and out, Mrs. Akin has served cheerleading coach, advisor for the
junior class, and summer school coordinator; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Akin has dedicated 20 years to the field of education, with three in Clarke
County schools and 17 in Jackson County schools; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Akin has been united in love and marriage to Robert Akin for 22 years and
is blessed with three remarkable sons, Tyler, Justin, and Bradley;
and
WHEREAS,
nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young
people, and during her teaching career, Mrs. Akin has exemplified the selfless
dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest educators;
and
WHEREAS,
it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Mrs. Akin
for her outstanding efforts and accomplishments in professional
education.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that Mrs. Sandy Akin
is hereby recognized, commended, and congratulated upon her selection as Teacher
of the Year; and gratitude is expressed for the great credit this fine educator
reflects upon the Jackson County School System and the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Sandy
Akin.
