RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Dennis Sanders; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Dennis Sanders was recently honored by Mercer University for his outstanding
public service; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as a Senior District Attorney;
and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Mercer University, Mr. Sanders was a standout student-athlete for
the school, lettering in varsity tennis all four years; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Sanders, his loving wife, Kay, and his two sons, Shane and Reid, are all
proud alumni of Mercer University, and Mr. Sanders is currently the president of
the Mercer Law School Alumni Board; and
WHEREAS,
an accomplished attorney, Mr. Sanders has held the title of District Attorney of
the Year for Georgia, has served as chairman of the State Ethics Panel for the
State Bar of Georgia, is president of the Toombs Circuit Bar Association, is a
member of the Georgia Board of Governors, and was named on the 2007 list of
Super Lawyers; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Sanders has also dedicated his talent and skills to educating and imparting
his experience to current attorneys and leaders through his work with the
Continuing Legal Education of Georgia, the National College of District
Attorney's at the University of Houston, and as a nationally recognized lecturer
for prosecutors throughout the country; and
WHEREAS,
he has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role
that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare
of the citizens of Georgia, which was recognized in 2005 with his receipt of the
Justice Robert Benham Award for community service; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Sanders has also been known by many as the voice of the Thomson Bulldogs on
the radio since 1976; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Dennis Sanders for his efficient, effective, unselfish,
and dedicated public service and congratulate him for his recognition by Mercer
University and his many remarkable achievements.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Dennis
Sanders.
