RESOLUTION
Recognizing
March 25, 2009, as District 44 Day at the state capitol; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on March 25, 2009, elected officials from the state, county, and municipal
levels, along with the constituents they serve, will come together to declare
and celebrate the success and unique appeal of District 44 of the Georgia House
of Representatives; and
WHEREAS,
District 44 encompasses a vibrant, beautiful community, rich in natural
resources and competitive business; and
WHEREAS,
composed of areas of Cobb and Fulton counties, House District 44 is a diverse
part of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS,
going from north to south, the district stretches from Cumberland Mall at I-285
and U.S. Highway 41 to Collier Heights south of I-20; although the shape has
changed over the years, historically, District 44 has been divided into two
parts by the Chattahoochee River, with the northern area being in Cobb County
and the southern part in Fulton County and the City of Atlanta; and
WHEREAS,
an exciting area and a wonderful place to live and work, District 44 is an
integral part of the great State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the 2009 District 44 Day at the Capitol is dedicated to recognizing and
celebrating the vibrancy, diversity, and commitment of the people of District
44.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and observe District 44 Day at the State Capitol on March
25, 2009, and heartily welcome to the Capitol the elected public officials and
residents of District 44.
