A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mount Carmel Deliverance Center; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the congregation of Mount Carmel Deliverance Center (MCDC) will celebrate the grand opening and dedication of their new sanctuary on March 28, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Mt. Carmel Holiness Church in Rincon, Georgia, experienced a surge in membership in the early 2000's due to the great revivals conducted by Pastor Julian A. Jones throughout the southeastern coast of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Jones earned a reputation for preaching and teaching the Word of God in a way that attracted people living almost 70 miles away to make the trip to Mt. Carmel Holiness Church to experience great fellowship and participate in spiritual fulfillment; and

WHEREAS, in September of 2002, Pastor Jones was directed by God to spread His Word and the Gospel even further through work in the southeast Effingham area; and

WHEREAS, after much searching and seeking of guidance through God in prayer, Pastor Jones and the eager congregation of Mt. Carmel Holiness Church were led to Port Wentworth to find their new place of worship; and

WHEREAS, the name Mount Carmel Deliverance Center was chosen for this new church on February 7, 2003, along with the first officers, Deaconess Loretta Brahim, Deacon Anthony Thornton, Sr., Sister Renee Jones, and Brother Gary Ross; and

WHEREAS, MCDC's first service was held on February 16, 2003, and Pastor Jones delivered a moving and uplifting sermon entitled "We Are Well Able"; and

WHEREAS, MCDC purchased land and began construction on their new sanctuary in February of 2007, and the devoted members have anxiously awaited the grand opening of their new 440 seat sanctuary.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mount Carmel Deliverance Center on the significant role it has played in spreading faith, extend their most sincere congratulations on the grand opening of its new sanctuary, and wish many more years of success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mount Carmel Deliverance Center.
