A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating the 90th birthday of Mrs. G.G. Gunter; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. G.G. Gunter was born on March 22, 1919, in Atlanta, Georgia, the beloved
daughter of Bill and Evelyn Holland; and
WHEREAS,
a lifelong resident of Atlanta, Mrs. Gunter graduated from Girls High School,
earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University, and attended Atlanta's
John Marshall Law School; and
WHEREAS,
as one of the first women to practice law in the Atlanta area during the 1950's,
Mrs. Gunter served as a role model and inspiration to many; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Gunter was a trailblazer in the legal profession, diligently and
conscientiously practicing law with the Civil Service Commission for many years,
work which earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and
associates; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Gunter is an active member of Trinity
Presbyterian Church where she devotes her talent, time, and energy to the
women's church group and has served as a Sunday school teacher; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Gunter has been united in love and marriage to Hugh Gunter for 62 wonderful
years, and they have been blessed with a remarkable daughter, Gay, and two
beautiful granddaughters, Jenny and Sarah; and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the
foundation and framework of success in which all of her family members have
developed and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Gunter is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable
reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the
example she has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which
to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized
during this very special and memorable time of her life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending Mrs. G.G. Gunter on the occasion of her 90th
birthday and wishing her many more years of happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. G.G.
Gunter.
