A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Clyde Lee Herndon; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mr. Clyde Lee Herndon on February 27, 2009; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Herndon was born on September 30, 1932, in Murray County, Georgia, a beloved
son of the late James G. Herndon and the late Elizabeth Langley Herndon;
and
WHEREAS,
he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United
States Marine Corps during the Korean War, worked as a mine foreman at the
Tennessee Copper Company, and was a co-owner of North Georgia Seamless Guttering
for several years before his retirement in 2001; and
WHEREAS,
a man with a deep sense of devotion to his faith and community, Mr. Herndon was
a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Murphy and was a past master of the Ocoee
Masonic Lodge #201; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Herndon was united in love and marriage to his loyal and adoring wife,
Glenda Little Herndon; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Herndon will long be remembered for his
love of country, family, and friendship, and this loyal husband, uncle,
neighbor, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Clyde Lee Herndon and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Clyde Lee Herndon.
