BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to medical assistance generally, so as to require the
Department of Community Health to contract with a single administrator for
dental services; to provide for applicability; to provide for an amendment to
the state plan if necessary; to provide for related matters; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to medical assistance generally, is amended by adding a new Code section to read
as follows:
"49-4-158.
(a)
On or before September 1, 2009, the department shall contract with a single
administrator for dental services for recipients of medical assistance pursuant
to this article. The contracting agent shall use dental providers to render
oral health care services.
(b)
The newly created single administration program shall be in effect and
contracted with all dental providers by not later than January 1,
2010.
(c)
The department shall submit any necessary modifications, if applicable, to the
state plan for medical assistance filed pursuant to Code Section 49-4-12 in
order to fulfill the requirements of this Code section.
(d)
The contracting agent selected to administer the provision of oral health care
services for recipients of medical assistance shall comply with subsection (e)
of Code
Section 49-4-153."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
