A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Warden of the Year Ralph M. Kemp; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Warden Ralph M. Kemp is highly regarded by the citizens of this state and by local government officials as a person of unquestioned integrity and dedication to the sound principles of law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Warden Kemp served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the Georgia National Guard and has diligently and conscientiously devoted his time, talents, and energy for over four decades to the correctional system of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Lyons High School, Warden Kemp earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Georgia Southern University and has worked in correction facilities throughout the State of Georgia in capacities such as counselor, assistant warden, deputy warden, warden, regional director, and deputy commissioner; and

WHEREAS, he has worked for the last ten years as Warden of Wheeler Correctional Facility, where he is responsible for the overall operation and supervision of one of the largest facilities in Georgia, with a population of over 1,700 male inmates; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his commitment and dedicated efforts to keeping Georgia's correctional facilities safe, Warden Kemp was recognized as Warden of the Year by the Corrections Corporation of America; and

WHEREAS, Warden Kemp is united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Molly, and has been blessed with two remarkable children and three wonderful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, he has exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties, and his efficient and effective commitment to excellence has been continually recognized by his peers; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the members of this body show their gratitude for the unique and often unheralded contributions of Warden Kemp and all correctional facility officers on behalf of the citizens of this state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the selfless dedication exhibited by Warden Ralph M. Kemp in carrying out the difficult duties of his vocation for over four decades, extend to him their utmost appreciation for having so purely and truly defined for others the meaning of public servant, and congratulate him on his recognition as Warden of the Year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Warden Ralph M. Kemp.
