RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Betty Geeslin on the occasion of her retirement; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Betty Geeslin has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours
of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and
state as evidenced dramatically by her superlative service during 26 years as a
registered nurse at Stewart Webster Hospital; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Geeslin graduated with honors from Columbus State University in 1981 with a
degree in nursing, receiving several prestigious awards while in school,
including the Philosophy of Nursing Award, the Spirit of Nursing Award, and the
Katherine P. Hazouri Award; and
WHEREAS,
after graduation, Mrs. Geeslin worked at Columbus Medical Center for two years
and then began her career with Stewart Webster Hospital in 1983 under the
direction of Mrs. Hazel Moore, RN and Dr. Alluri Raju; and
WHEREAS,
throughout her prestigious and impressive career, Mrs. Geeslin held various
positions, including RN Supervisor, Infection Control Nurse, CQI Coordinator,
Discharge Planner, Swing Bed Coordinator, Director of Nursing, and
Administrator; and
WHEREAS,
dedicated to the care of the hospital's patients and all Georgians, Mrs. Geeslin
has served on the Southwest Regional Healthcare Board and the Pandemic Flu
Committee for Stewart and Webster counties; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Geeslin enjoys giving back to her community, participating faithfully in
the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event each year, and she has been
honored with the American Cancer Society's Survivorship Award;
and
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mrs. Betty Geeslin for her selfless service as a registered nurse and her
commitment to her community and the State of Georgia and congratulate her on her
well deserved and hard-earned retirement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit a copy of this resolution to Mrs. Betty Geeslin.
