RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Taliah Waajid and the 10th Annual World Natural Health and
Beauty Show; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Taliah Waajid is a licensed cosmetologist with over 20 years of professional
experience in the field of hair braiding and natural hair care; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Robert Fiancé Cosmetology School, Ms. Waajid opened her
first hair braiding and natural hair salon in Harlem, New York, in 1988, moving
to Atlanta in 1991 and opening Braids, Weaves & Things, Inc., in College
Park; and
WHEREAS,
her practice specializes in extension braiding, twisting, locking, weaving, and
chemical free hair care, and she is known for educating clients on the
importance of healthy hair; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Waajid's professional and expert work has been featured in magazines such as
Essence,
Upscale,
Sophisticates Black
Hair,
Hype Hair and
Braids, and
Beauty;
and
WHEREAS,
she is the manufacturer of the first complete natural hair care line, Black
Earth Products, a moisture based line that focuses on providing maximum
conditioning and moisture to hair; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Waajid published two books on her work with hair,
Braid
Styles and
Heritage Braids and
Weaves; and
WHEREAS,
a strong believer in quality education for stylists, Ms. Waajid is the founder
of the World Natural Hair, Health, and Beauty Show, which is an annual forum
where consumers and stylists gather to seek and share information on hair,
health, beauty, and skin care;
and
WHEREAS, this year's 10th Annual World Natural Health and Beauty Show will highlight workshops and competitions and feature Yolanda Lavender, Truth Tone Records' singer N'Dambi, Staxx recording artists, several clothing designers, hair stylists, and make-up artists, and over 50 local runway and product models; and
WHEREAS, this year's 10th Annual World Natural Health and Beauty Show will highlight workshops and competitions and feature Yolanda Lavender, Truth Tone Records' singer N'Dambi, Staxx recording artists, several clothing designers, hair stylists, and make-up artists, and over 50 local runway and product models; and
WHEREAS,
this amazing event will be held on April 10-11, 2010, at the Georgia
International Convention Center in College Park and is sure to be an educational
and fun-filled weekend for all in attendance.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the amazing career and talent of Ms. Taliah Waajid and recognize the 10th Annual
World Natural Health and Beauty Show.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Taliah Waajid.
