RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA); and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Partnership for Health and Accountability was established in January, 2000,
in an effort to bring together hospitals, physicians, nurses, pharmacists,
pharmaceutical manufacturers, the business community, policy leaders, and
consumers to share data, resources, and expertise to ensure quality care and
patient safety; and
WHEREAS,
the Partnership for Health and Accountability is recognized nationally for its
leadership in improving quality of care and patient safety and has served as a
model partnership for other states; and
WHEREAS,
this partnership provides a forum for discussion and advocacy of data-driven
public policy that promotes the use of clinical evidence based care and the
coordination of care between providers and doctors; and
WHEREAS,
the four major components used by the partnership to support its goals are
community involvement, data analysis, reports, and a continuous improvement
framework; and
WHEREAS,
one preventable patient error is one too many, and consumers, providers, and the
community must work together and be responsible for making improvements in
health care; and
WHEREAS,
in honoring its ongoing commitment to equip consumers with valuable quality and
pricing information on Georgia hospitals, PHA continues to improve the landmark
Georgia Hospital Quality Check and Georgia Hospital Price Check websites by
creating an Infection Prevention section in the Quality Check site;
and
WHEREAS, these PHA websites are the first of their kind in Georgia and aim to be the leading sources for hospital consumer information in this state to empower patients and their families to take a more active role in their health care decisions; and

WHEREAS,
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory Crawford Long of Atlanta, Emory
Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University Hospital of Atlanta, Grady Health System
of Atlanta, Habersham County Medical Center of Demorest, Hughston Hospital of
Columbus, Monroe County Hospital of Forsyth, Mountain Lakes Medical Center of
Clayton, North Fulton Regional Hospital of Roswell, Piedmont Newnan Hospital of
Newnan, Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome, Saint Joseph's Health System of
Atlanta, St. Francis Hospital of Columbus, Stephens County Hospital of Toccoa,
Tift Regional Medical Center of Tifton, WellStar Cobb Hospital of Austell,
WellStar Douglas Hospital of Douglasville, and WellStar Health System of
Marietta have received awards for their outstanding leadership and innovation in
quality of care and patient safety.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of
this
body commend the Partnership for Health and Accountability, Children's Healthcare of
Atlanta, Emory Crawford Long of Atlanta, Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University
Hospital of Atlanta, Grady Health System of Atlanta, Habersham County Medical Center of
Demorest, Hughston Hospital of Columbus, Monroe County Hospital of Forsyth, Mountain
Lakes Medical Center of Clayton, North Fulton Regional Hospital of Roswell, Piedmont Newnan Hospital of Newnan, Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome, Saint Joseph's Health System of Atlanta, St. Francis Hospital of Columbus, Stephens County Hospital of Toccoa, Tift Regional Medical Center of Tifton, WellStar Cobb Hospital of Austell, WellStar Douglas Hospital of Douglasville, and WellStar Health System of Marietta for the exceptional advances they have made in quality of care and patient safety.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Partnership for Health
