RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Military Order of the Purple Heart's Georgia Chapter 492; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Military Order of the Purple Heart is a program that serves all veterans and
their dependents, assisting and working with them to file claims for the many
benefits available to them; and
WHEREAS,
experts from the Military Order of the Purple Heart are available at various
veterans affairs regional offices, hospitals, vet centers, and state and county
veterans facilities; and
WHEREAS,
the organization also has a national appeals office located in Washington, D.C.,
that provides quality and professional representation for veterans whose
benefits have been denied at the local level; and
WHEREAS,
the Military Order of the Purple Heart oversees a national outreach program that
provides services to veterans in rural and urban areas, assists handicapped and
destitute veterans in reaching their regional offices, and educates veterans on
the benefits they qualify for; and
WHEREAS,
the Military Order of the Purple Heart offers their wonderful and life-changing
services to all veterans, not just members of their organization;
and
WHEREAS,
Georgia's Chapter 492 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart will be holding
its winter meeting on February 28, 2009, at Fort Benning, Georgia, to plan and
discuss the best ways to continue to provide quality service to the veterans of
Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Military Order of the Purple Heart and its Georgia Chapter 492 for the great
work it does on behalf of Georgia veterans and their loved ones.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Chapter 492 of
the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
