A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Honorable James R. "Bump" Welch on the occasion of his retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Judge James R. "Bump" Welch has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service during over 30 years with the Marion County Court System; and

WHEREAS, Judge Welch has been an honest and dedicated public servant who strives for excellence in all his endeavors and whose primary concern has been the fair and impartial administration of justice; and

WHEREAS, his colleagues know him as a clear thinker and hard worker, as a man whose strong convictions are supported by meticulous research and careful consideration, and as an equitable, impartial leader whose decisions were governed by the rules of honesty and fair play; and

WHEREAS, Judge Welch is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and the State of Georgia is honored to have such a motivated and hard working individual as one of its citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that members of this body recognize Judge James R. "Bump" Welch for his outstanding judicial career and commend him for his years of service to the State of Georgia and the citizens of Marion county.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Judge James R. "Bump" Welch.
