A RESOLUTION


Commending Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation on the 50th anniversary of its first flight; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, fifty years ago, Grumman Aerospace test pilots Carl Alber and Fred Rowley took the first Gulfstream aircraft, a twin engine turboprop specifically designed for business travel, on its maiden flight; and

WHEREAS, since this triumphant and ground-breaking flight, Gulfstream has become a national aeronautical powerhouse, headquartered in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, since opening its first Georgia facility in Savannah in 1967, with just 100 employees, Gulfstream has continued to demonstrate its commitment to the City of Savannah and the State of Georgia, as evidenced by its current long-range facilities plan and associated investment of more than $400 million; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting that this body express its appreciation for the contributions Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and its employees have made to the economic vitality of the state and the innovation of worldwide aviation industry.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation for the organization's significant contributions to the economy of Georgia and extend congratulations on its golden anniversary of flight.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
