A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating the 90th birthday of Mr. George Francis Aldridge; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. George Francis Aldridge was born in Steubenville, Ohio, on January 24, 1919,
the beloved son of Elizabeth Feist Aldridge and James Emmanuel Aldridge;
and
WHEREAS,
Catholic school educated, Mr. Aldridge attended Steubenville Catholic Central in
Ohio and graduated from Steubenville "Big Red" High School in 1938;
and
WHEREAS,
in 1940, Mr. Aldridge enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his first
tour of duty in Australia; and
WHEREAS,
during World War II, this courageous and tenacious man served as a Propeller
Mechanic to the Flying Tigers in India-Burma and China; and
WHEREAS,
after assisting in World War II, Mr. Aldridge served in the Reserves during the
Korean Conflict, and upon completion of his dedicated service to his country he
had been awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the
American Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Ribbon; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Aldridge was united in love and marriage to the late Anna Marie Stettler in
1944 and he has been blessed with two loving and devoted children, Margaret Anne
Aldridge Almonte and James Francis Aldridge; and
WHEREAS,
he enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife of 31 years, Shirley
Monat Morgart, his seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he has made
of his life and the great service he has given to this country, he makes this
world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he
be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of his
life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending Mr. George Francis Aldridge on the occasion of his 90th birthday and
wishing him many more years of happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Aldridge.
