A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and expressing gratitude and best wishes to Mildred Slayton; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Mildred Slayton is nearing the end of a career of outstanding and exemplary service to the State of Georgia and its people and will be retiring in the near future; and

WHEREAS, she first entered state service in 1976 with the Georgia Department of Human Resources and transferred to the Governor's Office in 1983, where she served with distinction as office manager and assistant to the chief of staff to Governor Joe Frank Harris; and

WHEREAS, in 1991, Ms. Slayton transferred to the Lieutenant Governor's Office, where she has served as a trusted personal assistant to Lieutenant Governors Pierre Howard, Mark Taylor, and Casey Cagle and has become one of the most respected and admired figures around the Georgia Senate; and

WHEREAS, she is well known for the intelligence, competence, compassion, courtesy, and devotion to duty which she brings to her important work; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Senate, present and past, have been blessed to have had the friendship of this wonderful lady over her more than 30 years of illustrious public service and are deeply appreciative of the great credit she has reflected on the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body do hereby join in recognizing Mildred Slayton and expressing to her their deepest gratitude and best wishes for the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Mildred Slayton.
