A RESOLUTION


Commending the Buford Lanier Woman's Club on the 85th anniversary of its formation; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Buford Lanier Woman's Club was created in 1923 to unite women dedicated to promoting education and civic, social, and moral advancement; and

WHEREAS, the Club's efforts are divided into six departments: arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs, and public affairs; and

WHEREAS, a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, and nonprofit women's volunteer service organization, the Club currently boasts a membership of 52 dedicated and enthusiastic women; and

WHEREAS, the Buford Lanier Women's Club is affiliated with the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs and the General Federation of Women's Clubs; and

WHEREAS, this outstanding service organization supports 49 charities and associations, including the Buford Co-op, Operation Smile, and several groups providing scholarships for education in the arts; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting that this body express its appreciation for the great contributions and achievements made by the Buford Lanier Woman's Club over the past 85 years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the Buford Lanier Woman's Club for the organization's significant role in promoting advancement in Georgia and extend congratulations on the remarkable occasion of its 85th anniversary.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Buford Lanier Woman's Club.
