A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Elizabeth Bouis for outstanding contributions to education in the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, after graduating from The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Elizabeth Bouis went on to attend Colorado College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics and was an active member of the Delta Gamma Sorority; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bouis is currently in her 27th year of teaching and is a highly respected educator at Hillgrove High School, in Cobb County, Georgia where she teaches Latin; and

WHEREAS, her contributions and achievements have been recognized by selection as Teacher of the Year at Hillgrove High School; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bouis is actively involved in the National Junior Classical League and the Georgia Junior Classical League, which are organizations dedicated to furthering an interest in and appreciation of Latin; and

WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young people and Ms. Bouis has, during her teaching career, exemplified the selfless dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest educators; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Ms. Bouis for her outstanding efforts and accomplishments in professional education.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that Elizabeth Bouis is hereby recognized, commended, and congratulated upon selection as Teacher of the Year; and gratitude is expressed for the great credit this fine educator reflects upon Cobb County and the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Elizabeth Bouis.
