A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the 2008 Stratford Academy boys soccer team; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the 2008 Stratford Academy boys soccer team earned the top ranking in this state, earning the school its first State Championship title in boys soccer in nine years; and

WHEREAS, captains Scott Stevens and David O' Shaughnessey led this superlative team to complete their 2008 season with an amazing record of 15-6-1; and

WHEREAS, the 2008 roster consisted of talented athletes Ben Bowdoin, Joey Cleveland, Chidi Ekeledo, Obi Ekeledo, Austin Etheridge, Stuart Firth, Matthew Fuller, Samy Gabriel, Benton Graves, Mack Hodges, Stuart Kent, John Lyons, Rodney Noel, Becker O'Shaughnessey, David O'Shaughnessey, Kishan Patel, Mitchell Pearson, Ryan Ridley, Scott Stevens, Bo Stroup, John Treadwell, Thomas Watson, and Brandon Wood; and

WHEREAS, Obi Ekeledo, David O'Shaughnessey, Scott Stevens, and Bo Stroup were selected to the All-State and All-Region teams and Mack Hodges was selected to the All-Region team; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach James Jordan, Assistant Coaches Jeff Hale and Scott Serafy, and Manager Emmy Stroup; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate the 2008 Stratford Academy boys soccer team for winning the State Championship and extend their sincere best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit copies of this resolution to Head Coach James Jordan.
