RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Jamie Wilson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Jamie Wilson has earned a reputation for community service and selfless
dedication to others that has been recognized by
Aroundabout-Sixes
Living magazine with her honor as a
Pathfinder of the Month; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Animal Project (GAP) is a nonprofit organization that offers
low-cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats of low-income families and
animal rescue organizations in North Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
for the past three years, Mrs. Wilson has been dedicated to GAP's mission of
controlling animal overpopulation through subsidized spay and neuter services
and education, significantly changing the lives of local animals by giving them
a brighter and healthier future; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Wilson serves as the spay and neuter program coordinator for GAP at the
Cherokee County Animal Shelter, donating over 20 hours a week of her time
talking to clients about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets and
scheduling surgery appointments; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and graduate of Winthrop University, Mrs.
Wilson is certified in canine behavior and training and began her work with
Cherokee County Animal Shelter training and socializing dogs; and
WHEREAS,
an animal lover since childhood, Mrs. Wilson has owned an extensive list of pets
throughout the years, including dogs, cats, lizards, snakes, birds, rats, and
frogs, and volunteered as an elephant handler's assistant at the Smithsonian
Zoological Park while living in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS,
this kindhearted and magnanimous woman works as a customer service
representative at the Animal Medical Center of Holly Springs and also
contributes her time to the Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue organization;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Wilson has been united in love and marriage for 24 years to her supportive
husband, Fred, and has four furry children, Ozzie, Scruffy, Max, and Rocky, all
of whom she adopted from the Cherokee County Animal Shelter; and
WHEREAS,
the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable woman serve as a shining
example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have
Mrs. Wilson as a citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mrs. Jamie Wilson on her selfless contributions to improving the lives of
animals and congratulate her on the honorable distinction of being named
Aroundabout-Sixes
Living magazine's Pathfinder of the
Month.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Jamie Wilson.
