A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Northeast Georgia Mountains Travel Association on Tourism Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the small businesses and hospitality organizations in the Northeast Georgia Mountains help keep the tourism economy vibrant and make Georgia a memorable vacation destination; and

WHEREAS, many of these businesses thrive on tourism, which is the economic life blood and key economic development strategy for many rural counties throughout Georgia; and

WHEREAS, while tourism currently ranks as Georgia's second largest industry, it is important that legislative efforts continue to focus on expanding tourism so that new businesses, new jobs, and more economic growth will come to Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Northeast Georgia Mountains Travel Association is dedicated to working to further develop the tourism industry in Georgia through their personification of the Northeast Georgia region's unique products, attractions, and agriculture; and

WHEREAS, locally produced honey, jams, barbeque sauces, vinegars, and wine attract tourists to the small businesses of the Northeast Georgia Mountains Travel Association; and

WHEREAS, unmatched mementos such as Georgia Moonshine Jelly and 'Lil Sprout Cabbage Patch Kids are perfect examples of the unique items the businesses of the Northeast Georgia Mountains Travel Association produce to make Georgia a memorable place to visit; and

WHEREAS, the contributions and efforts of the Northeast Georgia Mountains Travel Association to increase travel to and throughout the state and stimulate economic growth are applauded.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the great work of the businesses of the Northeast Georgia Mountains Travel Association on Tourism Day at the State Capitol and commend their efforts to attract visitors to the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution the Northeast Georgia Mountains Travel Association.
