A RESOLUTION


Commending Mr. Mark Wilson on being named 2009 National Principal of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Mark Wilson serves with distinction as principal of Morgan County High School in Madison, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, before being named the 2009 National Principal of the Year, this stellar educator was also named the state's MetLife/Georgia Association of Secondary Schools 2009 Principal of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals selected Mr. Wilson as National High School Principal of the Year for 2009, crediting Mr. Wilson's selection to his willingness to think outside the box and his ability to create a sense of connection and belonging among the students and teachers of Morgan County High School; and

WHEREAS, part of Mr. Wilson's well-deserved recognition was an award of $5,000.00 to be put toward any aspect of the school he wishes, such as school improvement projects or professional development; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson is praised for his innovative and creative strategies employed to facilitate teacher planning and collaboration, enhance communication between students and teachers, and motivate students to reach their highest level of achievement; and

WHEREAS, this selfless and committed principal was inspired to devote his life to the education profession by his father, who was unable to finish school when he was young but returned to earn his high school diploma at the age of 50; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson is a shining example of the quality educators committed to public education both in Morgan County and the State of Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Mr. Mark Wilson for his dedication to the education of Georgia's youth and congratulate him upon his well deserved recognition as 2009 National Principal of the Year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Mark Wilson.
