Stacey Y. Abrams represents portions of the City of Atlanta, the City of Decatur and unincorporated DeKalb County. She is the CEO of sage works, llc, a legal and operational consulting firm, and a partner in Insomnia, a business solutions company. Formerly, Stacey served as Deputy City Attorney for Government Counsel, Development and Infrastructure for the City of Atlanta. Prior to her tenure at the City, she was Special Counsel and a tax associate at the Sutherland Asbill & Brennan law firm in Atlanta, where her practice focused on tax-exempt organizations, with additional practice in health care matters. She also served as the founder and executive director of Third Sector Development Inc., a nonprofit management-consulting firm that provided technical assistance to undercapitalized community organizations. Stacey is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a 2004 American Marshall Memorial Fellow and served as a Georgia delegate to the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Stacey received her J.D. from the Yale Law School. She graduated from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin with an M.P.Aff. in public policy. She earned a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Political Science, Economics and Sociology) from Spelman College.

She is also an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta, Leadership Georgia and the Regional Leadership Institute. She has published articles on issues of public policy, taxation and nonprofit organizations, including pieces with The American Prospect, The Christian Science Monitor, Yale Law and Policy Review, and the Southern University Law Review. In addition, Stacey has published several romantic suspense novels under the pen name Selena Montgomery. Stacey currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Hands on Atlanta, Inc., on the Board of Trustees for the Atlanta Girls School, as Chair of Women’s Legacy Group for the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, on the Board of Visitors for Emory University and the Advisory Board for Branan Towers. She is a member of the Women’s Advisory Board for Moore Financial Group and the advisory board for HSTAT - Health Students Taking Action Together. The website for District 84 is www.staceyabrams.com.
