Hugh Floyd is serving his fifth term as State Representative from House District 99 in Gwinnett County. He is a member of the House Economic Development and Tourism, Education, Governmental Affairs, and Industrial Relations Committees.

During his tenure in the House of Representatives, Hugh has successfully sponsored public safety and anti-gang legislation and has worked tirelessly to address overcrowding in Gwinnett County schools. He also passed eviction legislation that stopped the practice of placing tenant’s furniture, clothing, and belongings on the curbside of our streets. He was also co-sponsor of the Graffiti bill that allows the use of inmate labor to remove graffiti on private property.

Hugh retired from a 31-year career in sales with Industrial Packaging Corp. Even prior to his election to the state legislature, he had shown his dedication to the communities in his district. He worked with several organizations such as Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful and Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Resources. He also played an active role in the county education system. He served eight terms as President of the Parent Teacher Student Association and a member of the PTA Council. He also serves on the Superintendents Council in addition to service on many other community agencies and boards.

Hugh and his wife, Judy, have been married 45 years and have lived 35 of those years in District 99. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
