Virgil Fludd is a State Representative, serving a fourth term in the 66th House District. The district includes parts of Fayette and Fulton Counties in south metro Atlanta. He serves on the Ways and Means, Regulated Industries, Small Business, and Banking Committees. He is also Chair of the Economic Development Policy Committee and Co-Chair of the Working Families Legislative Caucus.
During his tenure in office, Rep. Fludd has authored or co-authored over 100 bills to improve the lives of the citizens of Georgia. His legislative successes include battles to stop payday lending, tax reform, district voting and financial education in the state of Georgia. He has won recognition by the Center for Policy Alternatives, AARP, Georgia Association of Personnel Services, Georgia Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, Georgia Equality, United Auto Workers, Service Employees International Union 1985, Georgia State AFL-CIO and Georgia Association of Educators. He recently served as the Economic Development Policy Director for the House Democrats and Co-Chair of the Working Families Caucus.
Mr. Fludd has over 20 years of sales, marketing, management and consulting experience. He is currently the President and CEO of the Carvir Group, an executive recruiting and management consulting firm. The company provides corporate recruiting services to companies across the country. He handles a range of recruiting assignments in the financial services, technology, energy, government and non-profit industries. He has recruited for positions in general management, finance, sales and marketing, information systems, human resources and operations.
Prior to his present role, Mr. Fludd worked for Bank of America as a Vice President and Sales Manager. He also worked for Xerox Corporation in various sales and management positions.
He has been very active in his community and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Foundation, the Board of Directors for the Center for Policy Alternatives, the Board of Advisors for Christian City and the 100 Black Men of South Metro. He is a founding member of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators Financial Literary Task Force. Mr. Fludd is also Flemming Fellow and a graduate of the Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute, Leadership Atlanta and Leadership Fayette.
Rep. Fludd has been the President of the North Fayette Community Association, Chair of the Board of the Dr. Ronald E. McNair Foundation and the Southern California Youth and Family Center. He has served on the Boards of the Atlanta Chapter of the Urban Financial Services Coalition, Davidson College Alumni Association, Clayton State University Foundation and the Fayette Community Foundation.
In 1980, Rep. Fludd earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Davidson College in Davidson, NC. He and Carolyn have been married for 25 years and they are the proud parents of two young adults, Christine and Brendan.
