First elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives in 1996, Helen "Sistie" Hudson has a great deal of political experience under her belt. Prior to her legislative duties, Representative Hudson served on the Sparta City Council from 1982-1986 and served as the city’s mayor from 1986-1992. She has also served as a county commissioner for Hancock County from 1995-1996.

The healthcare industry has been at the forefront of Representative Hudson’s professional life for many years. Graduating from Georgia College and State University in 1972, Hudson worked for several years as a caseworker. Since 2001, she has served as the Director of the Sparta-Hancock County Development Authority and has had active involvement with First American Home Care for over 25 years. She has extended her participation in the healthcare field through her membership on the Health & Human Services Committee of the House. She is also an active member of Economic Development & Tourism and Public Utilities & Telecommunications Committees.

Sistie and her husband Robert currently reside in Sparta, where they attend the local Methodist Church. The couple has 2 children, Drew, and Robbie.
