Representative Randy Nix of LaGrange, Georgia brings a wealth of knowledge to the Georgia House of Representatives from his career in the financial services industry with experience in investments, insurance, and banking. The 2011 session will mark 5 years of service Nix has given to the people of the 69th district as their representative in the Georgia House of Representatives. The district encompasses parts of Carroll, Heard and Troup counties.

Representative Nix serves as the secretary for the Natural Resources and Environment Committee, in addition to serving as a member of the Banks and Banking, Education, Economic Development and Tourism, and Judiciary committees.

Representative Nix graduated from Troy State University with a B.S. degree in Business. He is a graduate of the Southern Trust School and has also received advanced studies in financial planning.

Representative Nix served 7 years in the Alabama Air National Guard where his final assignment was as a Weapons System Officer flying the RF4-C Phantom aircraft. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.

Prior to his service in the Air National Guard, Nix served 5 years as a chaplain’s assistant in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Representative Nix serves as a pastor today at the Hillcrest United Methodist Church in LaGrange.

Representative Nix is a member of the Rotary Club of LaGrange and a past president of Boy and Girls Club of West Georgia and past president of the West Georgia Technical College Foundation Board.

Representative Nix and his wife Debra have two children: Julie Nix Farr, a nursing student, and Jess R. Nix, an attorney in Birmingham, Alabama.
