Representative Matt Ramsey, a native Georgian, was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2007. He currently serves on the House Judiciary Non-Civil, Human Relations and Aging, Defense and Veterans Affairs, and Regulated Industries Committees. Ramsey, in only his second year, was appointed to Chair the Crimes Against Children and Illegal Substances Sub-Committee of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee. Due to his key leadership at the Capitol, Representative Ramsey was appointed by Governor Perdue to serve as one of his Administration’s House Floor Leaders.
Matt served on United States Congressman Mac Collins staff for six years, advising the Congressman on several key issues including: tax and budget policy, transportation, energy, defense and veterans. This integral experience and Matt’s passion for public service has led him to be a tireless worker and leader at the Capitol.
Matt currently practices law in Fayette County and is a partner with Warner, Hooper, and Ramsey, P.C. in Peachtree City, Georgia. Warner, Hooper and Ramsey is a general business practice that focuses on a variety of commercial matters including business transactions, commercial and land-use related litigation and estate planning.
Matt grew up in Fayette County and went to elementary school at North Fayette Elementary, junior high at Fayette Junior and graduated from Fayette County High School in 1993. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. Matt obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Georgia State University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2005.
Matt and his wife Missy have two children, Anna Lynne and Jacob. The Ramsey family lives in Peachtree City and is active members of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Matt is active in a variety of local organizations, including the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, the Joseph Sams School and the Boy Scouts.
