First elected to the Georgia House of Representatives 1996, Chuck Sims has recently been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Higher Education Committee. Representative Sims is also currently extending his services to the Ways and Means, Agriculture and Consumer Services and Motor Vehicles Committees. He is also serving as the Chairman of the Sales Tax Subcommittee as well as the Agriculture, Livestock, Poultry and Aqua Culture Subcommittee. Representative Sims is tending to the legislative needs for the constituents of House District 169, which covers Atkinson, Coffee and parts of Jeff Davis Counties.

Born in El Paso, Texas, Sims later attended the Citadel, from which he earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1980. Two years later, he graduated from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Services. Now a funeral director and insurance agent, Representative Sims is also a Veteran of Desert Storm, having spent 16 Years in the United States Army and Georgia Army National Guard.

Aside from his legislative services, Representative Sims has also played key roles in several community and civic organizations. He is an active participant of the Douglas County Lions Club, Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Georgia. He and his wife Becky have been blessed with 2 sons, Charlie, 17 and Vick, 15 and a daughter, Greer, 13. The family attends a local Methodist Church. In his spare time, Representative Sims has a wide array of hobbies and interests. He often enjoys going fishing, reading, writing poetry, learning about military history and music.
