A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Chapter 5 of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to athletic trainers, so as to amend the definition of "athletic injury"; so as to provide for conditions under which an athletic injury occurs; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Chapter 5 of Title 43 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to athletic trainers, is amended by revising paragraph (1) of Code Section 43-5-1, relating to definitions regarding athletic trainers, as follows:
"(1) 'Athletic injury' means any injury sustained by a person as a result of such person's participation in exercises, sports, games, or recreational activities, or any activities recreation requiring physical strength, agility, flexibility, range of motion, speed, or stamina without respect to where or how the injury occurs or any comparable injury which prevents such person's participation in such activities. Nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to expand the scope of practice of an athletic trainer beyond the determination of the advising and consenting physician as provided for in paragraph (2) of this Code section Nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to require an athletic trainer to provide services in a specific location or type of location."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
