RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. Charlotte Stowers; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Charlotte Stowers has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the children of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by her 28 years of superlative service as a teacher and
administrator in East Cobb County; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her dedication to shaping and inspiring young minds and the
future leaders of Georgia, Dr. Stowers was named the 2008 East Cobb Citizen of
the Year; and
WHEREAS,
best known for her service as principal of Pope High School from 2000 to 2008,
Dr. Stowers has been committed to the education of children in Cobb County for
nearly three decades; and
WHEREAS,
devoted to uplifting her community, Dr. Stowers has volunteered with such civic
organizations as the Cobb Chamber's Board of Directors and the Cobb Commission
on Children and Youth, and she was appointed to Senator Johnny Isakson's
Military Academy Selection Board; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Stowers has been united in love and marriage to her husband, Sonny, for 40
wonderful years, and they have been blessed with two remarkable children, MeMe
and Christopher; and
WHEREAS,
nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young
people, and Dr. Stowers has, during her teaching career, exemplified the
selfless dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest
educators; and
WHEREAS,
it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Dr. Stowers
for her outstanding efforts and accomplishments in education.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Dr. Charlotte Stowers for her sacrifice, foresight,
accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia, recognize
her for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of
countless young people in this state, and extend congratulations upon her
recognition as the 2008 East Cobb Citizen of the Year.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Charlotte
Stowers.
